About D&R German Shepherds
Our Story
We are a family-owned and operated breeder based in Franklin, NY. We've always had a passion for German Shepherd Dogs but our journey of sharing that passion started when we got our first GSD and fell in love with her loyal and protective nature. Since then, we have been committed to breeding healthy and confident Working Line German Shepherds that excel in law enforcement, security and active families.

Our Breeding Philosophy
Imagine a world where every decision in pet breeding is guided by The Creator first, true dedication and love for the animal second, a deep understanding of genetics and a commitment to ethical practices. As ones that love the German Shepherd Dog, it is our goal to be responsible breeders that prioritize not just appearance, but overall health, temperament, and longevity. This approach means carefully selecting parent pairs to enhance genetic diversity while maintaining the unique qualities that define the German Shepherd Dog breed.
We have implemented a robust breeding philosophy that serves as the foundation for producing healthy German Shepherd puppies. Our practice includes comprehensive genetic screening, controlled breeding environments, and diligent health monitoring. This approach emphasizes purposeful pairing and the aimed prevention of hereditary issues, ensuring each puppy is given the best chance for a vibrant future.
Our key responsibilities include:
- Health Screening: Regular veterinary evaluations and genetic tests to preempt hereditary issues.
- Ethical Pairing: Thoughtful selection of breeding pairs to enhance desirable traits while maintaining genetic diversity.
- Environment: Raised and live in a loving family environment, where they experience family life with people and their GSD parents. The puppies are raised by their mother and father.
- Care: Given a very high quality diet, and include plenty of exercise, healthy conditioning, socialization and obedience training.
- Future Homes: Guiding prospective owners on long-term care and responsible GSD management.
- Transparent Practices: Clear communication about breeding methods and care routines for both puppies and potential owners.
- Continuous Education: Staying current with evolving best practices to further enrich our breeding standards.
By applying these actionable steps, we empower ourselves to make informed decisions that support both animal welfare and responsible GSD ownership. We continue exploring ethical methodologies and remain proactive—each step forward contributes to a brighter future for our German Shepherd puppies and their families.
